- Hi All,
-
- Well, from looking at more stuff on the net, it looks like this ISDN thing
- I have has a setting for a serial interface.. When set to the EIA-232 mode.
- The tables for pin-outs look like this..
-
- PIN CABLE AMIGA 3000T BOOK MOTOROLA UTA220k BOOK
- A3000T RS232 DESCRIPTION
- 1 C SHIELD GND Shield Ground Protective Ground (FG)
- 2 C TXD TXD Transmit Data Transmitted Data to UTA (TC)
- 3 C RXD RXD Receive Data Received Data from UTA (RD)
- 4 C RTS RTS Request to Send Request to Send (RTS)
- 5 C CTS CTS Clear to Send Clear to Send (CTS)
- 6 C DSR DSR Data Set Ready Data Set Ready (DSR)
- 7 C GND GND System Ground Signal Ground (SG or GND)
- 8 C DCD DCD Carrier Detect Data Carrier Detect (DCD)
- 15 NC TXC Transmit Clock (TC)
- 17 NC RXC Receive Clock (RC)
- 18 NC AUDI Audio Into A3000T Local Loopback (LL)
- 20 C DTR DTR Data Terminal Ready Data Terminal Ready (DTR)
- 21 NC SQD Remote Loopback (RL)
- 22 C RI RI Ring Indicator Ring Indicator (RI)
- 25 NC Test Mode
-
- The Motorola book says that the remaining pins have "No Electrical Connection"
- So I guess I don't need to worry about what they do on the Amiga..
-
- The 2 and 3 pins seem to be correct with send and receive being handled
- correctly..
-
- Modem Cable has pins 15, 17, 18, 21, and 25 disconnected, so I guess I don't
- have to worry about the loopback, testmode, or amiga audio stuff.. I suppose
- the only problem will be if the ISDN unit "NEEDS" the transmit/receive clock
- signals on pins 15 and 17..
-
- So It looks like I can hook this thing up to a Serial port, and not have to
- worry about anything blowing up.. I'm pretty sure that there are not going
- to be any SANA-II device drivers for this.. I doubt if motorola would spend
- the time to make them..
-
- Are there SANA-II drivers for the serial port?? Is the Amiga Serial port fast
- enough??.. Should a generic terminal program correctly handle using these
- pins correctly??
-
- I Have hooked the UTA220k up to the amiga, and it looks like it will do the
- little things I can test, without a line, like turning on and off echo etc..
- If I use ATalkIII it comes up and says no DSR.. This makes sense, because the
- Motorola book says it will change the DSR "After" it hooks up to the providers
- hardware.. The book was very clear about not hooking this thing into a line,
- until the unit is configured properly for the line..
-
- So I guess at this point, the next step is "What software do I need to put
- this TCP stuff to the serial port" then I can get the ISDN line hooked up
- and try and figure out how to get it working..
-
- Thanks For all the help and info.. I feel like I'm lost here with this stuff.
- I still may just put a pentium system together for this part of the system,
- but on principle, I want to have the entire network, phone/fax/voice/web/ftp
- info systems all working on Amigas with real-time info handled by Arexx, SBase
- and other Amiga programs..
-
- Thanks, Christian Christian@cup.portal.com Santa Clara
